I have a 2004 GU Patrol. The sub tank transfer pump hasn’t worked for about 6 years. The sender also stopped working. I have renewed both. Still not working. I’m thinking earth problems. Is there a fuse in the dash for them? I also have a light where the fan control not working and the temp gauge sits on extremely hot and the fuel gauge sits on full even though you run out of fuel. We have tried resetting to no avail. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Fuel transfer pump won't work if both fuel gauges aren't reading correctly. Try unplugging the main fuel tank sender unit, turn on ignition and see if the main fuel gauge reads empty.

Is the engine running hot? or do you think it's a gauge issue.

Does the sub tank warning light come on? When you first start the vehicle the system should automatically pump a small amount of fuel across. If you remove the main tank filler cap you should be able to see/hear if this occurs.

My 2007 had same issue, to cut a long story short there is a plc behind cigarettes lighter in dash and it was stuffed. I wired a manual feed to pump via fuse and switch, only issue is there is no level or full cutout so you have to pay attention.

Main gauge is not working properly, old temp gauge is not working properly (so have put in another on the pole). Sub tank pump and main tank sender have both been renewed. Sub tank button will not stay in and the light will not come on even when held in. Engine not hot (rebuilt motor since sub tank died). No sound of pumping at all. This is why I am thinking maybe there is an earth off or a fuse or something in the dash that may be stopping it all.

Sub tank switch is not an on/off type switch. It's a momentary type switch. It will not stay in. Switch does not directly activate the transfer pump. The switch let's the sub tank control module know that you would like to transfer the fuel. The module then will activate the pump if all control systems are work.

It doesn't have an individual fuse. I would heck all fuses in the fuse box inside the vehicle.

Could be an earth problem. Try running a temporary earth to the chassis.

Sounds more likely you have a problem with your instrument cluster.
