gday guys, just throwing around some ideas of crossing the simpson, birdsville to finke then up to alice. was just wondering if it were possible to do with an offroad poptop in tow? obviously the fuel consumption would be up but is there any other reasons why it wouldnt be possible?

thanks in advance

Mmmm have done abit of reading and have answered my own question.

No go, not recommended and without ever being there before me thinks we might be leaving it in birdsville, when we go.

Thanks anyways

Went over the Simmo last May and have done a few years ago with a camper but the tracks are looking a lot worse than when i took a camper across. I would not recomend it now mate thats for sure. Good luck with the trip cheers MO

Up to Mt Dare,Dalhousie,WAA line,Attora Knolls track then French Line to Poeppels Corner that was as far as we got as the lake in between us and P/Corner was still undr water and fuel was low on a couple of vehicles so after doing our sums we headed back to Mt Dare down the French line again. If you want info on the conditions Dave Cox at Mt dare is very helpful or ring Birdsville cheers MO
