mid last year i got a safari snorkel installed from rfm woollongabba. never paid it much attention but was reading an old article i have on snorkels and it shows how a piece of paper should be sucked against it when the car is on. so today i turned the car on and could feel no air going in, the paper would stay sucked against it...so got friend to feel while i revved the car after a long drive...nothing.
is this normal or does it sound like its not doing its job?
want to know before i go back to rfm and see what the problem is.

diesels breathe heavier than petrols, but even with a petrol i can hear it as well as feel it. If you cant feel anything then id be making sure its connected, just make sure it runs to ur air box and check for cracks

It would be sucking the air in from the water drain slots around the bottom of the snorkel head

Where the snorkel pipe joins before the air filter is notorious for sucking in air and if unfortunate enough water. The shops sikaflex the seal at this point.

Check, as it is probably drawing in the air there. A few unfortunates have done water into the engine at this point and water does not compress well.

I don't know about stalling the engine, but mine defenatly sucks my hand hard up against it, and I can feel the air getting pulled in hard around my fingers. I did this after I was told that sometimes the dealers don't do a complete job, and we wouldn't want water getin in where it shouldn't now do we.

cheers
Paul.

chuck a garbage bag over the whole snorkel head it should stall if its air tight. I used alot of red sickaflex to seal every join in mine.
