I would like to re gear my 4.8 auto from 3.5 to 3.9. Are different pinion gears available for the 5 speed auto to correct the speedo?

Yes there is other options available, but for the 4.8 we need to buy a whole new sender unit to be able to change the gears.

Reason is that the 4.8 sender has the teeth glued to the unit itself

Bugger no way around this, can't pull the sender and unglue it🤷🏽‍♂️

No I don't think so. I'm 95% certain it's glued on due to the size of the gear drive.... I.e. it's a different pin with no index like in the photo above
