i decided to buy a new switch for my spot lights that has a picture of a light and a red light in the switch. the problem iam having is the switch i replaced had 2 wires and the new one has 4 power, acc, ground and relay. if i connect the wires to the ground and relay the spotties work but the light on the switch doesnt but if i connect the wires to power and acc the light on the switch works and the spotties dont. would not have a clue about auto elec but my mate said use a wire from cig lighter and put it on the acc point but still didnt work. please help its prob simple but i have no idea!:(

Hey mate, not 100% but it sounds like you might have a switch that is designed for a earth switch system where as yours sounds like it is possitive switching. So I would suggest to check and see if one of the wires you have at the switch is live (with high beams on), if so you can try having the live wire joined to the ground pin of the switch and the other wire joined to the relay, then try (carefully) joining an earthed wire on to the power pin, and as for the acc pin loop a wire from it onto the relay pin along with the other wire and see how you go, but if the light in the switch is LED then it might not work. Other than that you might need to rewire the relay so that you have the power from the high beams going onto one side of the relay where you now would have a constant earth and the wire going from the relay to the switch have it connected to the relay pin still aswell as still having the acc pin looped to the relay pin but you will need to attatch the earth pin to an earth and have the power pin connected to a power feed (something that is switched on with accessory should be ideal). Well I hope this helps (and isn't too confusing) I know what I mean but having trouble trying to write it down. Good luck.
