Got a call late sat night and left early sunday morning to meet up with Rick/L300.
First time I've been there. Went with an L300 and a few quad's.
Ended up dropping into a creek bed and following it up. There was a section that was a small waterfalls vertical wall that the quads couldn't make it without flipping over. The L300 stayed back at the road. Too many large boulders to go over.
The thing that surprised me and everyone else was the Duratrac tires. I aired down to 18 psi and they flexed like a soft balloon and griped the slick wet rock like glue. One of the other L300's we met up was running Territory 31's and we tested it's flex compared to the Duratrac's on a sharp rock. They both flexed equally. I'm now convinced it's pretty much the same tire except for a slight difference in tread pattern.
I couldn't believe the Safari made it up a steep creek bed that was meant for quads. This is where the long wheel base came in handy. If you look at some of the pictures, look at the angle of the trees and you'll get an idea of how steep it was and full of running water.
All the people watching bet that it wouldn't make it. Nissan made me proud that day my friends :-D
