Alright all us sunny coasters let help a brother out. Its to wet to wheel so lets have a road trip to help those in Brissy.

Meeting 7am saturday 22nd at moby vics on the south bound side of the highway LEAVING 7.30am. then to the southbound BP servo at the twin bps. via seafood shop on the corner of old logan and michelle st

Destination- goodna mainly Enid st. FOUND THIS ON F/BOOK AS NO GOVT BODY GOT BACK TO ME.

What to bring-BOOTS,HATS,Suncream or raincoats, utes, trucks, vans,trailers, tools, shovels, rakes, gloves, lunches,dinner,brekky, water,drinks,insect repellent,dettol,hoses,w/barrows,GERNIS WOULD BE AWESOME, A FACE MASK IS A NECESSARY, APPARENTLY IT STINKS. and anything else anyone can think of.

MOST OF THESE HOUSES HAVE NO POWER STILL. WE WILL HAVE A BIG AND A VERY SMALL GENNY BUT ANYTHING WOULD BE GREAT.
if anyone has anything from crockery-glassware-saucepans-old bbq-gas cookers that they want to donate bring it.

This is a come at your own risk so dont sue me if you get a splinter.

I have registered our group with the volunteer website. Listed our special talent as " HELPFULL" hopefully hear where they would like us. If not hopefully someone in the group knows brisbane and a point we can help at.

all right guys this is the list so far. 15 people confirmed as helpers, 1 van, 5 patrol wagons, 4 patrol utes, 2 trailers, a few chainsaws . there will be spare seats in cars so if you want to just drive to moby vics you can ride from there with someone.
surely we can muster some more that would rather help than watch it on tele.???

Here is some advice from Chuckles.. sounds great. if anyone can donate feel free to bring stuff or pik stuff up from friends etc and bring it .
great idea guys. just done a big stint up at the emergency gathering point in the ipswich showgrounds taking donations so maybe if the is a evac point in brissy you guys could take down food, clothes, toys and baby goods. i think they could be pretty much accepting what they can!

Thats a great idea.
I have heard anyone wanting to volunteer should contact VolunteerQLD so that they can organise insurance for you and point you in the direction where your help/skills will be of most benifit.
I also heard on the radio they were asking for volunteers with high clearence 4X4's to assist out in the rural areas.
Again contact VolunteerQLD for more accurate details.

If you register, they can then plan to use you where you are needed most. They move slowly, like any volunteer organisation, and there's not much chance that they could formulate a plan for us prior to 22/23 Jan - I think we're on our own for this one - but you'll be on the books for future work and there is going to be lots of future work after this is all finished! Moreton Island will need a massive clean-up for example - hell, even Fraser is going to be wearing the flotsam and jetsom for months to come.

I did ten years with SES in NSW and am raring to go, it's bloody hard watching all this on the tele when I have orange overalls and a chainsaw in the garage, but OH&S crap means I can't just front up and join a crew (have been 'inactive' for two years, so they can't insure me).

ok well i am up for helpingout. i have registered with ses some time ago, X- militry so i think the best place to be starting would be brisbane CBD helping out the most effected areas as theearlier peoplecan get into damage control asap
