Hi Everyone,
I've just put in a 2" lift kit into the patrol, I was hearing a rattling noise coming from the the front end and the car wasn't steering straight, so I went and got a wheel alignment and balancing which made it a little bit better (I think I will need to get caster correction.)
Anyway I am going away in a week camping - does anyone know what this rattling noise could be??

I should add that both my local 4WD mechanics are booked out so they won't be able to look at it
Can anyone please help, thanks

The brand of the lift kit is King Springs (has a 3 year warranty) I read all reviews and everyone seemed to say good things about it.
I think something is loose, I just don't know what it is

A 2" lift is mild and shouldn't do much to the steering layout, can you confirm there was no "rattle" before the lift?

Are the springs seated correctly?
Do you still have the std shocks? as you don't mention a change.

Seeing as everything is working in a slightly different plane now, grab a handful of each steering joint and give each a severe shake looking for excess movement, also check panhard rod bushings and sway bar linkages, might as well check the steering damper as well while your at it.

Yeah there was no rattle before hand. I'll have to have a look at the steering joints then! Is it just a nut that would need tightening on the steering joints?

No, not that easy unfortunately, if it is the joint then replacement is the only option, but first double check everything we mentioned.

try undoing all the blots you undone during the lift roll the car around on the ground and then doing them back up. i had the same prob im mine and it was because i done up all the nuts while the car was still on the stands

Hi, another point for noise which had me stumped until i found it last weekend was , wait for it,, the swaybar links was rattling! Ok i have after market extensions, but it was banging softly when driving straight or turning. had it in the shop and they checked every nut and bolt and marked everything they checked. The nylex nuts had undone (because the nuts were undone a few times when they took off the swaybar to do some work. Not good for nylex to be reused.) Anyway easy fix, locktite and new nuts!
