Before you guy's start giving me stick, I from South Africa, and we never had the Invinity here so getting parts the vh/vk v8 would be very hard, and the LS v8's here are very expencive, so the only viable option is the Lexus.

Got the motor on Friday, and took out the old motor on Saterday

sounds like a pretty good combination to me. the 1uz is a briliant little motor. massively strong.
do you plan on running the original g/box with an adapter or use a toyota gearbox? well i guess tbh the rd28 standard gearbox probs wouldnt handle the power and torque of the lexus v8. though arnt they the same box behind vl commodores and skylines???
anyway sounds good and cant wait to see it running. love the sound of a grunty 1uzfe.

This is the 2.8 Patrol with 4.625 diff ratio's, so it should crawl.

I am trying to keep the Lexus auto, a buddy has got that on his comp truck with 35" tyres and it goes great.

Why do you think I started the Thread like that, this kind of thing is not welcomed here is South Africa either (the guys here don't even know I'm doing it yet)

so it would be like putting a 5L (for example) in a mavrick?
Not really because a Maverick isn't a real Ford (Thank **** for that!!!)
I have just heard that the Lexus autobox will not work with the patrol transfer case, so I would need to use the Patrol gearbox
Do you have some sort of conversion kit? Do you plan on using an auto or manual? Or just whatever fits together? I'm interested to see how this turns out.

here a link of a guy I used to wheel with years ago. it a twin turboed worked lexus. was running a standard box for ages and giving it a very hard time when it was in his first truck. he went to auto when the patrol box died. from memory it snapped the shaft from box into tranfer..? at the time he was loading it up and dumping it on the grass getting ready to race. in 4wd and on 33 x 14 or 15 wide tyres (once again from memory). he went either turbo 350 or turbo 400 manualised and it sucked huge power out of it. it was put into this wagon with a manual and raced for a while. very, very quik truck.

We are going to use the Patrol manual, that a Lexus conversion expert here will mate to the motor.
I'm not sure, but I think they are going to use a Toyota Dyna clutch, hope it holds.
I will not be using any turbo's (I know this is not the most powerfull V8, but remember I'm taking a 2.8 out there, so I'm looking at atleast twise the power that what I have now) so the gearbox would be OK.

No use having a car that sounds and goes well, bot does not look the part.

So we will install a 50mm body lift while the motor and gearbox is being mated, ok so it is not just to look good, with the 33" tyres the rear tyres already rubs on articulation, and we mite go to 35" tyres to get the ratios rite.

Also we have installed a 2" OME suspention kit last year, but did not do the caster correction kit, and with the old 2.8 Motor it was fine, but with all this new power we will have to do that.

This is the Patrol as it stands now

Nice! In South Africa, do you have road regulations your modifications have to meet?
