Probably depends on engineer but makes no sense considering the whole front end of a cruiser bolts together.

I've seen a Duramax Patrol here in Gympie of a guy I know that has the piece bolted back in and all approved and rego'd.

Cutting the upright just below the bonnet catch mechanism is pretty much the only way to squeeze in the intercooler.
We also braced the top rail afterwards as you can roll them a fair way by hand. There is potential for the radiator to bounce off its spigots otherwise

That's a nicer donor platform for the Duramax than a ZD30!!

Haha, I should have probably just said GU but seems just about every Duramax conversion is an ex ZD. Although a guy in town did do a 4.8 to Duramax. A Duramax Y62 tourer would certainly be a nicer ride than a GU. I've only heard of one Duramax Y62.

Its actually a nicer donor platform for a bit of Harrop engineering.

That would be a nice ride as well.
