Hi there,
Although I wouldn't recommend the ELKO system, it does stack up good on economy. I've heard plenty of stories of barely 300 km/tank, but mine gets plenty more.
Around town (Melbourne) with tools: 360 km/95 lt
Freeway plus 1/4 city bumper to bumper: 450 km/95 lt
Freeway only: still have to find out!
Towing a 6x4 trailer doesn't seem to worry it too much.
Main cause of difference if you ask me? All the "tough-looking" gear people carry on their daily commute! My car has a bullbar, 2 Rhino roof bars, 2" lift and 285/75/16 tyres but no fuel cans, shovels, annexes and massive roof racks with a dozen spot lights and other gear hanging off it! That sits in my trailer!
My 285/75/16's dropped my revs at 100km/h (actual speed rather than speedo) from nearly 2500 to about 2200RPM (compared to 265/70/16), much nicer and better economy too.
Just my 2 cents....
