Patrolliers, Im looking into getting a reusable air filter, such as the K&N or similar.

The only problem is K&N claim to not have have one to suit, however Unifilter do. I am sure that I have read on this forum

Would anyone who has a reusable filter please comment or those who chose not go down this path comment as well.

Cheers

Gday .I run a K&N filter on my 4.8,seems to work good .People camplain about them saying they get oil on their MAF sensor ,but aslong as you don't over oil them everything should be sweet.I bought mine from repco for about $200.

I used a UniFilter for a while. Didn't notice much of a difference in performance and when i first checked it after a few months, there was oil everywhere on the clean side of the filter, so i took it out and haven't used it since. It may have been over oiled from new. But from all the advice here on the forum, I went back to genuine nissan elements and haven't looked back, there's never even a spec of contamination on the filtered side. And only $68 from nizzbits from memery.

I have one if you want ($50), I pulled mine out, it was making the car run rich, it was making the MAF sensor dirty, switched back to a paper filter and i found it was better all round, though I dont know how long a paper one will last in comparison.

I ran a K&N in my 4.8 - All I found was an increase in Fuel use ( running rich) and evidence of dust/sand getting past the filter. If there was an incresae in performance, it was so minimal that I failed to notice,
Reverted to stock paper filter

K&N filters are just rock catchers, they don't filter well.
The Uni filter, is a huge restriction. OE Filters are always better, my old LX470 had no problem with the Toyota one, even after I fitted the blower!

No problems to date with the Unifliter, been in for last 8 years clean it once a year or so. Never any dirt on the intake side, very slight oily film on the intake but barely noticeable & has not affected fuel economy at all.
