Hi all just a quick question in regards to oil pressure on start up oil pressure for a td42 n/a gq, I have noticed on a couple of occasions that the oil pressure according to the gauge after cold starts the gauge sits up around 4 or slightly more and comes back down slowly after 30 mins of idle this is without the choke on as well is this a problem/warning or am I just dreaming it is due for a service now which I will do shortly. any thoughts would be great.

Mate it is normal for the oil pressure to be higher while engine is cold, more than you might imagine.

Mine is around 50 to 60 psi at cold idle, but half an hour later it's 40 in fifth at 100 km/h.

Also a little higher with a thicker oil too, esp when it's recently changed.

I wouldn't worry too much by the sounds of it.

As Lee said, oil pressure will be higher when cold.

My gauge is in kg/cm^2.
Cold idle - 4kg/cm2
warm idle - 2-2.5kg/cm2
driving- 2.8(ish)-3.2(ish) depending on load and revs, normally an even 3kg/cm2.

Mine is spot on the same. To the OP - I also wondered about your question. Thx for asking.
