Hi long time reader new poster. Car 3lt GU 2010 130,000kms. Can anyone advise the following. Trying to diagnose won't start due to fuel issue which may be air related.

Once clear line installed between fuel filter and IP pump inlet and if bubbles detected.

1) Should there be no bubbles at all, which a diesel mechanic has advised, but this contradicts the Nissan manual available on this forum which stated small but infrequent bubbles are norm.

2) Using this procedure with bubbles present, does this indicate leak is between tank and fuel filter(including fuel filter and primer).

3) Will pressurising the tank via compressed air, force the fuel through the potential leak area. I only will be using a 12v tyre inflater and cloth to form the seal at fuel cap inlet. What type of pressure would be required.

4) Is there a better method of testing? `

Any feedback appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. Would prefer to see no air bubbles at all, if you do, just back track and make sure all connections are firm and secure all the way back to the tank (start at the IP end), this may include dismantling of the filter unit to check seals etc, many of us have been through this, try that as a starting point and see where it leads before getting too deep.

You can also gravity feed diesel into the inlet side of the filter to the IP using a 20L drum and see if any bubbles exist in that situation.
