I remembered this video clip posted by Foo a week ago when I read the story below about one of the Victorian monuments of a white male that Reece was complaining about. We need to remember the courage and determination of people like young Lennie Gwyther and if statues of them help then let's put up more of them regardless of the gender and colour of those being remembered.

Apologies for the long cut & paste but it's worth it.

So picture this.
It’s 1932 and Australia is in the grip of the Great Depression.
One in three workers are unemployed.
Decrepit shanty towns hug the outskirts of the big cities.
A scrawny rabbit caught in a trap will feed a family for a week.
Country roads are filled with broken men walking from one farmhouse to another seeking menial jobs and food.
On the outskirts of the South Gippsland town of Leongatha, an injured farmer lies in bed unable to walk – or work.
World War I hero Captain Leo Tennyson Gwyther is in hospital with a broken leg and the family farm is in danger of falling into ruins.
Up steps his son, nine-year-old Lennie.
With the help of his pony Ginger Mick, Lennie ploughs the farm’s 24 paddocks and keeps the place running until his father can get back on his feet.
How to reward him?
Lennie has been obsessively following one of the biggest engineering feats of the era – the construction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
He wants to attend its opening.
With great reluctance, his parents agree he can go.
So Lennie saddles up Ginger Mick, packs a toothbrush, pyjamas, spare clothes and a water bottle into a sack, and begins the 1000+ kilometre trek to Sydney.
Alone.
That’s right.
A nine-year-old boy riding a pony from the deep south of Victoria to the biggest and roughest city in the nation.
Told you it was a different era.
No social media.
No mobile phones.
But even then it doesn’t take long before word begins to spread about a boy, his horse and their epic trek.
The entire population of small country towns gather on their outskirts to welcome his arrival.
He survives bushfires, is attacked by a “vagabond” and endures rain
and cold, biting winds.
When he reaches Canberra he is welcomed by Prime Minister Joseph Lyons, who invites him into Parliament House for tea.
When he finally arrives in Sydney, more than 10,000 people line the
streets to greet him.
He is besieged by autograph hunters.
He becomes a key part of the official parade at the bridge’s opening.
He and Ginger Mick are invited to make a starring appearance at the Royal Show.
Even Donald Bradman, the biggest celebrity of the Depression era,
requests a meeting and gives him a signed cricket bat.
A letter writer to The Sydney Morning Herald at the time gushes that “just such an example as provided by a child of nine summers, Lennie Gwyther was, and is, needed to raise the spirit of our people and to fire our youth and others to do things – not to talk only.
“The sturdy pioneer spirit is not dead … let it be remembered that this little lad, when his father was in hospital, cultivated the farm – a
mere child.”
When Lennie leaves Sydney for home a month later, he has become one of the most famous figures in a country craving uplifting news.
Large crowds wave handkerchiefs.
Women weep and shout “goodbye”.
According to The Sun newspaper, “Lennie, being a casual Australian, swung into the saddle and called ‘Toodleloo!’”.
He finally arrives home to a tumultuous reaction in Leongatha.
He returns to school and soon life for Lennie – and the country – returns to normal.
These days you can find a bronze statue in Leongatha commemorating Lennie and Ginger Mick.
But Australia has largely forgotten his remarkable feat – and how he inspired a struggling nation.
Never taught about him in school?
Never heard of him before?
Spread the word.
We need to remember – and celebrate – Lennie Gwyther and his courageous journey.
It's a great story.
God knows we need these stories now, more than ever.

Thank you very much for sharing.

In regards to your comment I couldn't agree more, our heritage and history as a Nation must be protected as a national treasure of who we are and once were, and who we may not be tomorrow if this culture terrorism continues to snowball further out of control. This complete nihilistic attack on truth, morality and unalienable right's, enshrined in the Magna Carta 1215, which is or, you could say was, reflected in all the Commonwealth Sovereign Nations Constitutions is out of control, and stinks to high Heaven of Blatent HYPOCRISY propped up by political correctness brainwashing. To hell with it...!

I say "was" because there has been deliberate corruption of the original Australian Commonwealth Constitution Act. UK 1901, for one when they butchered it with the abridged version under Howard. But I digress.

I remember the old days before this country changed or was changed, when we didn't lock our doors, wow great memories indeed, gone for ever now... Thanks you halfwits political whores in Canberra and your foreign philanthropist banker puppet masters, well done...!!! A burning pit awaits you for eternity...!

Nihilism means the destruction and decay of culture, and what they are replacing it with based on false rhetoric/reasoning is no consolation but a mockery, complete bloody mockery and, my Great Uncles and Grand Fathers would be rolling in their graves. Socialism can only destroy things it can't build culture just sanitize it to give more control to the state.

50,000 people alone died from famine, murder, robbery or disease in Melbourne in the Great Depression, and history has often repeated itself and I hope to God it doesn't but the way things are going nothing is certain, what is certain is there's reasons for this and one is apathy and moral decadence, and the world makes out decadent things are trendy and cool, like the rubbish they pass off for music and art these days...

The only Law of the Land is the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act. 1900 (UK) enacted in the British Parliment and it has never been repealed, there is no other Law in this land it is it...

Nothing is better than truth, common sense and reality, as rare as it is in the world today it is easy to find when seek it, first we must be honest with ourselves and overcome apathy and the feeling of political powerlessness, and the false belief that Governments have our best interests at heart...Not to mention the false idea in democracy being a vehicle to solve any of the National and Global problems we face...Politics never solve problems just compound them one upon another to overwhelm and take more power by destroying Common Law and the constitutional foundations our nations were built upon, and that is evil by nature... Everything is either complete propaganda or spin the the media, and MP's and their parties are bought by the highest bidder or lobby (special interest) group AKA Thilanthropists who are the propagators of doom, war and every other evil conceivable. The fact that people cant even acknowledge these warnings publically on a forum shows just how scared most people are of the truth and standing against evil, and so they become the enablers of same... God Bless Australia... Lest We Forget those who died for this once constitutionally prosperous Sovereign Nation...

There's one problem = A virus is not a living thing and the protein coating on the "outside" is what protects this virus.;) Have a listen to the podcast at 4am on the ABC every morning and also Dr Karl Kruszelnicki. Then there is this bloke, that explains it in detail.

Thanks mate, yep there certainly is a lot of conflicting info on the so called virus, bottom line though the political leaders deliberately let it spread by not acting properly in the beginning with quarantine and international border protection, and logic and history show that was more likely than not, so they could use it as a political weapon against the population, and that too is treason...

Who is Braden?

The guy being interviewed in the video you posted above. Haha but his screenshot is a Masonic symbol hmm...

By the way it's a communist tactic to confuse and overwhelm a population with information that's the whole purpose of the info age by Tecnocratic leites... and as Communism is a Global movement or I should say assault, I can't help noting that as data speeds up people become more distracted and detatched from reality and the things that really matter. A communist defector caller Uri Bezmanov revealed in excile in USA in 1984 that's how Communism operates, to overwhelm and confuse and give people everything they need to see the truth but so much other crap so as to distract and confuse them... And as it is known there are deliberate disinfo agents in all fields in the world well paid for this purpose, it's called controlled opposition or Cointelpro...

The virus in my opinion is a bio warfare and propaganda operation to advance Totalitarian Communism Globally... Dare I say it...!!

I thought you were talking about someone else. I'm not, a conspiracy believer and I associate them with anti vaxxers and they are friggin idiots!

I've listened to plenty of dialogue on this "virus" and until we have some idea of how it came about and what will lessen it's hold on us, we are forked! ;)

Do you realise that it is not only the old that is at most risk but anyone with low immune systems, asthma, cystic fibrosis and major organ problems?
