Had the windscreen replaced in the BT this week. Mazda in their wisdom installed Alpine head units in my model with Apple Car Play in an attempt to win sales I guess.
Anyway , it’s a good radio etc BUT the DAB antenna is a stick on unit because it’s an after market radio essentially.
Not reusable!
Extra $49 from a Car Audio shop.
Let the pictures tell the story.

I’ve always stripped wire with diagonal cutters, never had any problems, used cheap crimpers, they caused problems, bought these from jaycar, one handed wire stripping and secure crimping. You can teach an old bloke new tricks.

In hindsight, I think there was enough cable to stick it on the back window !!!
The original antenna wire was made to length, but the new one was long.
Have to remember this if I change windscreens again

We had a Peugeot with rain sensor built into the windscreen, thank goodness we didn’t have to replace that. $$$$$$$$😳😳😳😳😳

I like how Ford/Mazda repurposed the gear-lever from an old Falcon for their new shiny dual cab. Looks like they may have slightly altered the lockout button to make it seem bespoke.

What old one?
That’s the radio it came with when we bought it. All BT50, 2018 onwards had Alpine head units with Apple Car Play.
Mazda Australia changed the front bumper to what they came with from the factory and also changed the radio.

Ours has a rain sensor too, it comes as part of the windscreen and the mounting block for the mirror is glued to the windscreen too

I bought the crimper with interchangeable dies, so I don't need to carry too many tools for different crimps.

Because it's not a Jaycar exclusive tool (just rebranded) there's a truckload more dies available on the interwebs.

Because technically it’s not part of the windscreen, it’s an add on
