Hi all, I am having trouble removing the gear knob from my transfer lever. It seems that the previous owner may have used lock tight or some other glue on it. No matter how hard I lean on it, it won't budge.
Any advice on how I might be able to break the adhesion?

Ben

They can be very difficult to remove ex-factory. I had to resort to using an oil filter wrench with a soft strap.

I could never understand why they needed to be glued on like that. I've had mine screwed on just hand tight with no glue / locktite and it's never come off.

My neighbour has one and it just unscrews. Will try soft strap oil filter removal tool though. Thanks

Finally got it off. Mate held shift lever with vice grips and I used a big stilsons wrench to undo it. Made a huge crack when the glue let go.

None. The crack was the glue letting go. It's all good now.
