guys just getting my uhf installed and wondering how i finish the coaxial cable to the screw in adaptor thing that screws in the back of the uhf...pictures below...

First you'll need enough of the centre core wire poking out past the inner white insulation so it will come the middle hollow pin enough to be soldered in there.
Fold the braid back over the insulation and screw the connector on.
Then solder the centre wire to the hollow inside the tip.

I would not use that connector, for a uhf radio. The are ok at 27 Mhz, but C##P at 477Mhz (uhf).

I would go to your nearest radio dealer and ask them to put a connector on (also get them to check your VSWR). It should not cost too much as you have done the hard work of running the cable.

thanks guys i think i have it sorted, everything fitted now. but to be sure this weekend i will go the a radio dealer or a auto electrician and see if its all good.

i would have like to have test it yesterday going down the coast but apparently the other half thinks i shouldnt play with sh*t like that while driving.
