I need some help. My engine started sounding really bad last week and I took it to Nissan and they told me that I have to have it Calibrated. They quoted me AUD$2300. I think that is a bit steep. But that is how it is here in the Philippines. Will it be cheaper for me to buy a new one or try to source a used one there in Australia? Please help

Buying new you know what you are getting, buy used, and it's buyer beware time. I personally would seek a 2nd opinion before committing to Nissan's quote. Maybe post some more details on what the problems are and hopefully you'll get replies from the ZD30 experts on this forum. Make sure the usual basics (fully serviced, no air in fuel lines, new fuel filter) are done first and find out the fault codes. Good luck (and welcome to the Forum btw).

what sort of sound was it making?

i would be checking all the basics first. i've lost count of the amount of times companies have diagnosed faulty injection pump when it was poor seal on the filter (or other basic fault).
