Hey everyone,
Been a member for a while but this is my first post.
So over the weekend I decided to pull apart most of the air con in the GQ and began cleaning the evaporator, I decided the best way to do this was to soak it in some water and bug off in a bucket.
Left it for half a day and when I went back out the thing have tipped over and water had got into the hose lines so tipped it over to let the water drain out but is this enough? Hope that I haven't stuffed it now.
I know this might sound trivial but I'm not the most mechanically minded person but I want to change that and do a bit more work on the old girl myself.

Flush it out with an alcohol based solvent like methylated spirits and leave it in the sun to dry. The solvent will flush out the water and any remaining solvent will evaporate. Don't be shy with the meth.

I'm sure places that do a/c maintenance or regassing would have some special go go juice that they use for flushing, if you want to be anal...

IMO you should make an effort to make sure the evap is dry as moisture in a compressor is generally not a great idea.

Yeah I'm not that anal about it, I'm sure the metho will do the trick just fine, the more I can save the better, the old girl needs a new air con compressor anyways and re gassing once that's all in so that's gonna be a bit of cash there.

Don't worry too much about it. When you vac out the lines before charging, every bit of water will vaporise and be sucked out by the vac pump. If there are significant amounts of water in there then this will take a long time but it will work with 100% certainty. As long as you get the right numbers on your gauges before charging you can be completely certain you have removed all water.

Ok thanks for that Overboard, hopefully I get it all back together by Sunday and all this has made some improvement, dunno why I pulled all this apart during the hottest part of the year haha.

That reminds me of I test I did once, I needed to hook up three vac pumps in parallel and it still took a few days to get it out. Blows people's minds when you can show them water boiling off at room temperature
