Are they getting back to their roots? Toyoda yes with a d not a t, was the real name of the founder, they first made sewing machines, then after great popularity making knock off cars of current western vehicles, changed name to Toyota and became the biggest car manufacturer in the world. The basic history I'm aware of and can remember.

I vaguely recall reading somewhere that the name change was done on the advice of Mr Toyoda's astrologer. Said it would bring good luck and prosperity.

Doesn't seem to have done their fortunes any harm.

This one time that astrology was right pretty much confirms its a science.

Don't tell astronomy though.

Correlation does not causation make. Mr Toyoda's success was related to him getting a lot of other things right.
