Just wanted to do a bit of a survey on why rev range people drive in.

I'll start off,

Normal driving up to 2500 and rarely up to 3000

Off road up to 4000 if needed

mine pulls from 600rpm, iv seen 4,600rpm on the loud pedal offroad, i dont like to drive my shiny one like that. usually not over 3,700 under on road acceleration. stock turbo gives up the ghost around 3,500 Piece of garbage.

I think i revved above 3000rpm today, but it was cause i was rolling down sellicks hill and turned the overdrive off to use the engine to brake rather than smoking the pads.

I leave OD off around town, and have done the resistor mod so it goes well, dont have to rev it hard to get going.. Probably the same as your figures jplynch90 apart from the 4000 bit :)

Do you mean drive it slow because it's a high performance 4 cylinder or drive it fast?

My ol 4.2 na I would rev it to whatever offroad 4200-4400 rpm and it sounded good, my 3l, if on the beach in the soft stuff will not let it get below 2500rpm, nice and pokey at that if it gets softer and have revved it to 4500 or redline cant remember what it is now! In the wet mud ****. My 350 in my 1 tonner 6500rpm thereabouts. I dont mind revving a motor as long as it sounds like its not hurting.

for the most part I shift gears at 2500rpm or just below 3000rpm. Hill climbing in low range found it goes better at around 2500- 2700rpm.. and get really good grip. :idiot:Some time I just close my eyes and have no idea what revs because my ass is at war with my sphincters and nothing else matters LOL

The old 4.5 manual hits 5000rpm on a regular basis. Just potting around with the family on board she stays under 3000rpm. Fuel consumption on gas doesn't seem to differ too much whichever way you drive it...

Usually 1800 to 2750. When towing the boat I will go a little further to 3250 on the change between 2nd and 3rd.

Can easily pin beyond 5k but generally change anywhere from 2500-4000rpm.

If coming onto the highway Ill hold it to 4500 in 3rd then straight to 5th.

Gear changes somewhere around 3000 rpm to 3500 rpm. Rarely do I change below 3000 rpm.
Full throttle I will go to 4000rpm. Not much point after that, she clearly goes no faster........

If your changing you ZD30 so early, what your fuel economy like?
Mine is 12.5 l/100 constant......well up till last few fills thats been 13. Will sea after MAF clean and air filter clean what happens.

Rare that I ever go over 3000rpm unless towing a van. Gear changes usually around 2400-2800rpm if going up hill, otherwise change 2000 - 2200 around town. I aim not to labour the engine and let is slowly pick up speed without having to bury the pedal.

I think this was directed at me? If so, mine is no longer a zd30, check my build thread.

normally about 2500rpm is a change. but its nothing to see 3500 on the road and off road. well what ever. ive seen 4200 a couple of times.
governors or rev limiters are there for a reason. to prevent damage. i like to push the boundaries.
btw td42 with aftermarket turbo.
