ok, heres a good one for ya.
i work in a crash shop. now i was under the impression that insurance and the police are around to keep cars safe.
in the past 4 days at work i have repaired 6 cars.
out of these 6. 3, which is 50% (and i will keep an eye out for more) of these cars have very very bald front tyres. there were steel belts showing on ome and the other two were ripping appart to the inside layers.
Now the pigs are worried about the road toll and puting up cameras every where to reduce it but that isnt working.
how about doing random safety checks for stupid S#!+ like this. i mean how hard is it to have a look at 4 tyres every so often.

Any thoughts or comments people.

sounds good to me.

I agree with what he is saying though, they take the easy way out and forget the basics, many cars here in Tassie wouldn't pass roadworthy tests and are on the roads all the time.
Personally I have nothing against random, or even the good old yearly roadworthy checks.

90% of people against it are the whingers whose cars are hunks of **** that shouldnt be on the road.

YMMV

In the UK all vehicles over 3 years old have to have an annual MOT certificate. It's very good at keeping crappy old cars off the road.
Problem is it get's abused by some (lots) garages. Basically they use the MOT test to generate work for themselves. Years ago I took one of my cars for an MOT and they failed it because the rear brake pipe was corroded. So rather than let them fix it I took it home and replaced the pipe myself. When I took it back (re-test was free by law) they tried to fail it because the brake pipe was not perfectly straight. I had had the brake pipe made up by my local garage and, because they make it out of pipe on a roll it's not going to be perfectly straight. They passed it in the end though. Eventually I found a local mechanic who did all my MOT's for me, he was very fair and would never fail it on a minor problem. Just recommend that it needed to be fixed for the next MOT.

Would you like the police to check people randomly for clean underwear as well, just in case they get hit by a bus. Don't blame the police for not finding these cars, try blaming the dicks that own them and continue to drive them in that state. Personally in QLD I would like to see QLD Transport actually being proactive with vehicle checks.

If these cars had bald tyres the insurance company should of rejected their claim.??
That's what they threaten to do in the small print of the policy.

yea. they should be knocked back for things like this. i agree, maybe cops have better thing to do. but really. as i stated before. they are putting up s#!+ loads of speed cameras and spending millions on "are you creeping add's" which they claim to reduce road tolls and they don't. when they should be looking at thing's like bald tyres for example (just happend to be the issue i had discovered in quite large numbers). if just one of these cars comes up to a bend on a wet road in a 100 zone, no traction on the front wheels. what do you think is going to happen.
i am a firm believer in modifying vehicles because if done properly they will not interfere with the original vehicle handling or strenght. but on the other side of this as raised before, some modifications make cars safer and handle better, so why target these peole that are improving things when there are people (for example) running around on f****d tyres
the simple answer i guess is to spend money on stupis campaign's, make it back on people who slighlty bend the rules and let the ones who cause all the problems off scott free.
what a wonderfull world
