Hi
I just installed a new winch on the Patrol ,and followed all the connection instructions.
Samehow I can only get it to work in,when I press out I get a noise in the control box.
I know it could only be a simple solution, but I can't work it out.
Any help will be much apreciated.
Cheers

Never had an issue with a brand new 1 unless you have a lose connection somewhere, the clicking is the solenoid, is it the new model Tmax with the big single piece solid state solenoid or the older style with the 4 prong type solenoids.

What a load of crap, have fitted god knows how many Tmax and Ironman winches and when done correctly have never had to touch a new 1 that i've fitted.
As for Warn, well if you have money to waste then buy 1, where do you think a lot of Warn spare parts come from,,, yep China, genuine Warn labelling with made in China on the label.

Did you tighten up the cable nuts (on the motor) without holding the bottom nut steady with a 2nd spanner? I did this once and got it all wired up, solenoids working etc, realized I had broken the connections inside the motor casing. A quick zap with the welder and all fixed. You can test the solenoids are working easily with a test light, but there's a good chance they're ok if you can hear them click in both directions

I also had this problem. Brought one off ebay. It came from a place in Hervey Bay too it was labeled 4x4 point but looks the same as the ironman winch. Never used it but the solenoid pack must be stuffed, no warrenty on those either even if it is a new winch. The guy said that because it was a wearable part it is not covered. What a load of $#@% if you ask me, if it does work from new then how can it have worn out. If it is a solenoid pack replace it with the one peice unit and it should be all good.

Do you know who the guy is mate, I to have seen his adds and stuff, but have no idea who he is. sounds like a back yarder to me, haven't seen 1 of his winches yet thankfully. There are a lot of copies of copies of copies out there, some good some bad, am finishing off fitting a winch for a guy on Monday, Ebay special, he saved $400 buying a no name, but it is now going to cost him $300 or so for me to mount as it won't fit his bar and I have to do major mods.

I'm with 2 brutal I have never had a problem fitting my t-max and its been in my car for 4 years now, doesn't miss a beat, if you can here it clicking when you operate it then usually the solenoids are working, something else you have done may be by mistake is the problem,

No don't Know his name sorry. The winch is good but just the solinoid pack. He had and ebay shop at one stage probably change the shop name like they all do when they have to many problems. I wish I knew so I could let everyone else know about his crappy warrenty. He advertised on the ebay site that the winch had a three year warrenty. Turns out it's like a nissan warrenty, useless!

Brutal do you have a shop up there. Where is it I might drop in one day when I'm up there for work. Come and check it out.

Mate - I think all your probs come down to a lack of forum member name originality. ;-)

Okay... gotta admit I didn't put that much thought into it either!

You could be right. But like you could be stuff thinking of anything else.

thanks for all your comments!!
I had taken out the winch and will put it appart to check what I have done wrong.
Is definite to do with turning the motor around so it will fit in the bull bar.
2BRUTAL have you ever had this problem?and is it possible that I did something wrong??
Regards
Tony

Not with rotating a motor mate no, when you undid the motor how far did you draw it back off the mounting plate to rotate it, it is possible maybe the brushes in the other end of the motor aren't aligned correctly or something like that, when you rotate a motor it should be undone and only slide back a couple of mm's just so you clear the locating dowels then repositioned.
But genuine GU bars don't need the motor rotated, just the gearbox.
