Hi there,
I have had a good look on the forum, can some tell me is it the earth (black) from the gauge you wire into the dimmer swicth and to what colour wire on the switch, pink etc.
I have my +ve (white) coming from my cig light.

Some gauges are wired differently, if the white wire is for the light and not the power feed to the gauge then splice that into the closest bulb in the dash. then it will be under the control of the dimmer switch on the dash, not direct as soon as you turn the ignition on

+ve from the ciggy lighter light is fine and yes it is the gauge lighting earth that goes to the dimmer so the gauge dims with the panel.

Only works if the gauge lighting is seperate to the gauge power... which most are but not all.

Can't remember the wire colour tho... pink or pink/black I think but wouldn't bet on it...sorry. If you have a Voltmeter/Multimeter the wire you are looking for to attach the "black wire" will be about 4 volts or so at bright and rise towards 12 volts as you dim the dash lights.

Otherwise do what Zappa suggests
