Hey guys
I am in quite the conundrum. I have cleaned out my induction piping, intercooler and intake of all the oil that built up from the previous owner.
I blocked the EGR and my catch can does not go back into the induction. So really, there should not be any way of oil getting into my induction system.

WRONG!

5000kms later I pulled my induction apart and found quite alot of oil from the the turbo onwards. The pipes from the air box to the turbo is dry but from the turbo to intercooler to intake has quite a bit of oil. It looks fresh, not dark and dirty. Is it possible my turbo is leaking oil? I have found damp areas of oil inbetween the turbo snails.
Any advice would be smashing.

Below is the picture between the turbo.

You need to stop it at the source, remove the ZD30.

Turbo seals to weep a bit, but if youre getting a lot then it's probably time for a turbo overhaul assuming the turbo drain isnt obstructed and the feed to the turbo is the right pressure.

Hmm, who should I take it to? Nissan or some type of diesel turbo specialist?

mtq at wetherill park, turbo care frenchs forest or gcg at bankstown, should be able to help. if you take it to any of these your cutting out the middle man. you could take it to a mechanic but they will most likely send it off to one of the above places.\

these are all turbo repair, rebuild shops. im getting a td04 done at mtq for the hilux (i know toyota) $1300 for a brand new unit + a highflow (bigger comp wheel). they will re-assemble my old unit FoC. also they clean, strip and quote FoC as well.

at GCG to look at the turbo clean, strip and quote it. its $137 and they will give your turbo back in pieces if you dont want the work done. i.e. the damage to the turbo is worth a new one.

hope this helps.

thanks for the detailed reply Jason. I tried to pull my turbo off and tinker with it myself but couldnt get it off.

Ill have to leave the whole car with them. Would a clean/service be a day job as I live an hour or two away. $137 sounds very reasonable.
