Hey guys.... So I pretty much live on this forum but NEVER post.

So Virgin Post.

So anyway, have a zd30 gu patrol with a leaky intercooler. Which is starting to annoy me, as its causing limp mode issues and can't be good for my turbo (dawes, needle valve, egr block and jaycar MAF voltage modifier fitted).

My question is, has anyone bought or can give any feedback regarding the Patrolapart "new" intercooler with tig welding.
Mechanical - Engine - Intercoolers & Airboxes - Intercooler Brand New ZD30 DDI - Patrolapart - Specialist Patrol Dismantler / 4x4 Accessories,Parts,Services,Sales

It LOOKS like a bigger core than standard and is $575. From the picture it looks bigger than the $600 ARE replacement core items. Am waiting on a reply from patrolapart but Just wondering what people think of them? If anyone has bought one or if anyone has more details about them than the limited info on the website.

I did search the forum already too.... And couldn't find anything. I think this is a fairly new option for replacement, however, I may just be a spaz and there is already heaps of discussion regarding these.

Thoughts are appreciated

Cheers Steve

Hi Steve,
I have the ARE upgraded intercooler and can say it has improved my performance over the standard cooler. However, I also replaced the scoop with the bigger ARE scoop and insulated the intercooler end tanks and fitted a fan under the intercooler at the same time, so it is hard to determine which has done the most good.

The ARE upgraded cooler also has some modifications to the end tanks to improve flow and has a curved fin welded in to more evenly distribute the flow across the cooling surface. I think this does have some improvement. But the ARE intercooler was a lot more than the Patrolparts intercooler you are looking at. So I think this is a pretty god value replacement to the leaky factory intercooler.

This looks pretty good for the price.

Yeah I saw the eBay ones too. I guess that's what concerns me about them. Just curious as to the quality.... I'm assuming they aren't Aussie made... I'm worried its one of those "too good to be true" kinda deals

Anyone actually using one of these??

I don't know anyone who has one.

HPD and Cross Country is all I see. Twice as expensive I guess but its better than buying a crap one twice :)
