Hi, for a while now I have had the Dawes/needle valve setup, now on average it is boosting to 6psi @1500 and 10psi @ 2000rpm with a maximum of 14 psi, bit it doesn't take much more throttle to get it to boost higher than the sujested [email protected] and so on, now is this normal or is it spooling too quick cause of the crappy brass needle valve that must not have a fine adjustment? (from air fitting store $30). I did think setting max boost a bit higher might give me more adjust ment but unsure. It goes well with the setup bit I'm just a bit worried that it boosting to quickly may cause damage. Thanks for any help

Your results are very similar to mine. Does your car go into limp mode up big hills?

Hi jplynch90, the 6psi @ 1500rpm rule is a guide which you can only achieve at a certain engine load, if the load varies, the results will change.

As long as the ECU is not going into overboost or backing the fuel off as you are going through the rev range all will be fine.

Altering the boost a bit higher will also not change the spool rate either if you are doing it via the dawes valve.

Cheers,
Whitie

Might be worth a bit of a hard push up a hill one day just to see what happens through that lower rev range, that way you will know part of the answer. If your maximum boost is set at 14psi you have no worries on that front. As a matter of interest, what does it spike to.
