Sounds like a job for the Dealer or someone with time and tech to strip the cowling away to find the noise.

 

Definitely mechanical - maybe a joint has come lose? I would get it checked asap!

the clunking sound comes from the steering column and it's loud inside the car also there is a little play in the steering wheel i think it might be the steering shaft
i checked the suspension and control arms ... everything. the mechanics say it's fine

also one of the mechanic say it's just a sound ignore it nothing to worry about

 

Haha its just a sound don't worry about it! Next minute your block has a hole in the side...... well it was just a sound!

 

I had a slightly different problem with my steering noise with my Y62.
When I turned the wheel all the way to the right (until it can't move any more) and then I slightly drive the car then I feel a clicking noise. I couldn't hear the sound but feel in the steering. The left side was fine.

I gave it to Nissan dealer as it was under warranty and after 4 trips (1 day each), they fixed the problem but they have to order some parts from Japan as the Y62 parts were not available in Australia.

I got this problem after 6 months I bought my Y62.

i have problem with my y62 when the car is stopped when i shake the steering wheel left and right rapidly i hear a clicking/clunking noise inside the steering wheel also when i drive on unpaved roads i recorded i video

Apologies guys for the late response. The issue happened almost 4 years ago and not sure what dealer has done to fixed it but they fixed it.
I am going back to same dealer (person) next Monday and would asked him if he can look at the history to tell how they fixed it.

low steering oil level could cause such issue.
damage to the steering column gears could cause such issue
