Hey guys,

The cruise control has never worked on my Patrol since i got it. Really wana get it working as have some long trips coming up soon.

The switch on the dash turns on (well the light does) but then it will not set. Any one got any idea's? I cant find any fuses relating to the cruise control? Is there anything i should look at? Anyone have a wiring diagram?

Cheer's!

When i got water in my car up to the bottom of the seats mine started playing up. Sounds like a similar problem, i pulled out the control box, took it apart, it had a bit of mud in there so i cleaned the chip right up, as well as the relay attatched to it. Works good as gold!

The control box and relay are located behind the drivers side kick panel, from memory its a metal box, with a blue and white relay. Pretty easy to remove just a couple of screws and a plug or 2.

Whos idea was it to put electricals at floor level in a 4wd?

OK so im still trying to fix this.

Have pulled out the relay and box posted further up, did have some corrosion inside, cleaned it all out and put it all back together.

Also fixed some dodgy wiring on the tail lights, still not working.

Anyone else got any idea's?

Check all your tail lights and fuses. The cruise works off the tail light circuit. Although from what you said the cruise is active. Does the word "cruise" illuminate in the Dash Cluster? (bottom left)

If so and then the problem is with the module or possibly the actuator under the bonnet...?

Yeah i checked all the tail lights, seem ok.

Cruise doesnt not illuminate on the cluster, only the light on the switch does.

Im thinking its time to find someone with the same car and start trying parts :(

Have you checked the clock spring behind the steering wheel, if thats broken it will effect the cruise control, normally you get the airbag light flashing as well unless someone has pulled the fuse, just a thought, good luck.

msports, the clock spring is a rotary electrical connector which allows the steering wheel to turn whilst having electrical connection between the steering wheel, air bag, horn etc. It gets its name because it resembles a clock spring. It is easily damaged as mine was when the steering wheel was turned with the drag link disconnected by the local power steering mob. Normally the first sign is the airbag light stays on or the horn does not work, its a long shot but worth checking if you run out of options.

Aaah yep im with ya now.

I took to cruise control buttons off, and put a test light onto the contacts to see if any had 12v, and the horn went off? Was un-expected.

I'll keep trying :( the list of things to do never gets shorter.
