EDIT: behind your deck there should be a pink wire with a black line on it, tape that up and replace your fuse and that should solve your problem

 

Hi guys,

Just sort it out did another check of fuses and one fuses was blown, 10A - Tail lamp. Thought i check it too. But I wont be putting the new deck in, have to resort to the standard CD deck for now. Don't wanna blow another fuse.

you have used the wrong wire for the earth , the wire you used gives an earth reading but turns to power when you flicked the lights on

Your spot on , just checked it, maybe I can installed that new deck after all, but maybe tomorrow some time .

Hahahaha i don't feel so silly. i did the same thing too.

 

The deck must be earthed to the chassis, metal behind dash etc, not to the earth wire in the harness, or as soon as you turn the parkers on, fuse will blow, been there and dunnit.:hmm:

 

but that wasnt the earth you connected to , it was the backing light for the factory radio

 

most of the head decks ive wired up never seem to use logical colours for all the obvious wires.
ie the main power wire in mine was blue. aux power was red. and it was already earthed to the body. but if there are hooked up as to what you think they should be you will be popping fuses all day.
and also the wire that everybody is talking about taping up is more than likely the original lights wire. and soon as you have turned on the parkers you have shorted the lights wire and popped the fuse. have done it myself before. and i felt like a goose upon completion

 

good to see i wasn't the only one

i successfully installed a pioneer mp3/usb player and earthed the ground wire to the main body and no problems ever since.
