Hi guys,

A few days ago the check engine light came on on my 2007 CRD zd30 patrol. Today I got a diagnostic report done at Supercheap Auto, and the scanner reported error "P0660 Intake Manifold Tuning Valve Control Circuit (Bank 1)"

Has anyone here had this error before, and or know what it could be and how much it's likely to cost me?

I've booked it in to be looked at by a specialist diesel injector place next week, but i'm a bit worried about how much this is going to cost me!

The car runs fine, just as it always has. It's all standard as far as i know. I'm in Darwin at the moment.

Thanks,
John

Possible causes
- Faulty Intake Manifold Tuning Valve (IMTV)
- Intake Manifold Tuning Valve harness is open or shorted
- Intake Manifold Tuning Valve circuit poor electrical connection

That's all I could find so it gives you a starting point.

Here you go
P0660, Swirl control valve control circuit is open/ shorted
ECM detects swirl control valve control circuit is open or shorted.
●Harness or connectors
(The swirl control valve control solenoid valve circuit is open or shorted.)
●Swirl control valve control solenoid

No point buying a valve if its a wiring fault. Best to get it diagnosed properly and accurately first. If however you want to chance it, go ahead.

Hi guys. I hope you all had a great Easter.

Just to let you know, I managed to solve my problem. I bought a replacement solenoid, as shown in the attached pics, reset the error code using a wireless dongle and iPad app, and it all appears to be working ok. No more errors.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice and even assistance!

Thanks also to Gary from Nizzbits who provided exceptional service and advice!

Cheers,
John

Hey xedi, did you get yours sorted? Having same issue, so many possibilities of qhat can cause it currently in the middle of diagnosing. When i scanned it it came back with the p0660-swirl control valve and also another code for intake manifold sensor, deleted that code and need to scan again to see if it returned but im going to check all my vaccuum lines when i get home, check any lines and wires to the intake sensor and try narrow it down. Ill keep you posted, appreciate if you let me know what you figure out

Jesus, cheers mate... looking through the workshop manual for a while found what i was looking for... error code P0660 says "Variable Intake Air Solenoid circuit open bank 1"... took off intercooler and all the top stuff to get to where the diagram is showing me where the problem is, its on the opposite side of the engine to where that particular solenoid is, and i cant see it anywhere... might be under the cylinder cover but this manuals sent me on a goose chase... just going to replace that "SWIRL" solenoid and hope for the best...

Apprently this swirl valve etc. is called Variable Induction Air Control System for everyone reading this...

Forst pic is what i was chasing, second pic is the description of the SWIRL system and name to clear confusion
