these dudes may have a better idea?

 

on the mitsubishis that used to have this problem with there was small micro switch on the shifter that also used to die. dunno if these have the same setup though.
otherwise check that the actuator is getting power to it and also see if you can find an earth with a multimeter. make sure this hasnt got a high resistance.
im still struggling a bit to realise if you did actually replace the brake light switch or not but it not just bridge the plug with a paper clip or similar and try again. sounds weird but its possible.

 

If its anything like the auto shifter setup that i removed from my skyline, i just removed the cable from the shifter end and it never locked it in again? Pain in the ass as you have to remove a lot of crap to get to it though.

 

I did replace the brake light switch, but didn't fix it. I bridged the switch out originally and it worked once then didn't again. I tested the continuity between the contact on the switch and the set that aren't for the brake lights didn't work so I replaced the switch thinking great found it. But I was wrong.

Just spent the last hour reading on the Pulsar site (thanks big bear) and can't bring myself to read anymore about pulsars.

Tried joining the forum but they ask why you wanna join and somehow I don't think they will let me join.

I know I could just break this little plastic tab off and all will be good, but we are gonna sell it soon and it may go to a friend so don't want that on my conscience.

 

Pretty sure on the new Colorado's if the fuse for the brake lights is blown it wont shift without pushing the shift lock button. Worth a look?

 

Yeah. Check the brake light fuse!

 

Wouldn't that mean the brake lights wouldn't be working though?
