Hi
I’m about to install a newly rebuilt TD42T and have purchased a Survivor Stage 3 cushion button clutch.
Wanting feedback from anyone that has used this style of clutch in a Patrol about drivability. Are they still progressive enough to be used as a daily drive? How do they perform in towing situations? People using other brands - please respond too.
Need to know before I drop the engine in please.

Any sort of button clutch will be less than ideal for offroading or towing. They just have too much bite when you want them to slip. There is a reason they are rarely used on daily drives and mostly on competition vehicles.

I couldn't find much info of first hand use on a Patrol on the forum but here are a few posts;

Thanks Overboard
I’ve taken your advice and ordered a Safari Tuff clutch. At least it gives me peace of mind I won’t need to pull the motor out due to an undriveable clutch.
cheers

Hmm I can give a comparison of the safari tuff hd and the ufi both used daily and towing very easy to use no problems but the extra money for the ufi is definitely worth it , I ruined my ufi leaking rear main broken crank just the normal stuff and threw in a safari as a mate suggested and it doesn't like the faster gear changes (which my crank will like )but the ufi felt alot crisper and I guess more clamp, and I haven't changed any settings straight swap
If I had my time again I would have waited for the ufi
