There both 3.3L

It will bolt sraight in, just use the exhaust off the turbo patrol, and your N/A flywheel and clutch ect.

 

The specs I got for the SD33 put it actually around 3240cc therby rounding makes it a 3.2 not a 3.3

 

*sigh* both motors are a 3246cc straight 6.

Nissan round up to 3.3L.

harts - your best bet is to swap the turbo, manifolds, and pump. i would recommend getting a diesel mechanic (united perhaps?) to swap the pump so you dont screw the timing. - this way you have a proper turbo pump with boost compensation. being MK to MK you wont have any issues converting 24v to 12v.
the n/a SD33 block you have will have the oil gallery for the turbo, but you will need to put the turbo sump on your engine (for the turbo oil return)

Just re-read this and hear what you are saying. One problem i have right at the moment is the SD33 is blowing heaps of smoke, low compression etc. I will use the other block .

Hmm begining to get an idea what i may be doing this weekend

 

Just swap in the SD33T complete with clutch. The N/A gearbox bolts right up to the SD33T. Only L28 and P40 gearboxes are different.

Alot of people say that the N/A gearbox is different but it isn't exept for different ratio. But it fits perfect behind a SD33T.

 

I'd do it as Jelmer says too

engine hoist, one engine out, the other in, close the bonnet, done, drink beer

 

Also compare clutch release bearing housing and install one from turbo model if it's different.
Everything else is the same.

 

So it is just a matter of taking one engine out, dropping the new one in, hooking it up with the other turbo settup and other exhaust system? Seeing as the car with the 3.3 turbo engine comes with a fairly new clutch i will use that (mine is questionable).

I do have access to a mig welder and possibly after hours pipe bender to mock up a new exhaust (brother is a boiler maker/fabricator).

Are the fuel pumps the same? Just different tunings? Will it be easier to use the original if they are the same?

Cheers landy might take you up on the offer. Being a first car i would like to try drop in the engine myself and get it running, but for a tune i will definitely give you a ring seeing what you have done to your beast!

I will now have two N/A SD33 engines sitting around. One has a brand new head!!! (pm me if you want it!)


EDIT: One call and a quick visit later she is mine! $400 No smoke under load (was allowed to try pull out a tree haha) and a little on startup but runs like a dream compared to mine. So i will have some LWB MK parts laying around for those who need them soon! Has been layed over on its side though.

 

the 5 speed on your na will have a lower (i think lower is the word, bigger ratio number) first gear ratio than the turbo, so better for crawling. the turbo will have a bigger clutch. so put the turbo engine with clutch onto the na gearbox, it will all bolt up fine.

first and reverse are different but thats it. no issuse. .

every thing bolts up and, wires upthe same the only thing you need to change is your throttle cable as the turbo one is shorter then the n/a,one buy a long way.

nearly fo got zorst is different but thats been said.

By any chance how long did it take you? This will be my first engine removal/fitup but my old man will be along side (has done many a holden engine conversion back in the day).

Also did you muck around with the tuning/fuel pump at all?
