If you are "blowing" your intercooler, it could be because the turbo is overboosting (which is a sign you'd better get ready for some big $$$ repair bills).

I'd be getting some of the other mods done to the engine that the blokes on this forum seem to have good success with.

These include:
  • blocking the EGR valve
  • fitting a catch can for oil blow-by
  • fit a boost gauge
  • fit a Dawes valve
Good luck

Check its mounted correctly. Never mount up solid finned/tubed heat exchangers (radiators / oil coolers / intercoolers) as the vibration from the engine will cause them to fail. Ensure that they sit on rubber blocks or a suspension of some kind. As you tighten the fixings ensure they pull up square and not twist or pre load the heat exchanger.

You would have to seriously over boost to blow a hole in a ali intercooler. I think the engine would be toast first !
