Anyone got an N/A barra engineered in a patrol? Looking to get it engineered but seeing that a barra is 190kw and the most powerful engine in a GQ patrol is 129kw being more than 20% more powerful than the stock engine. It would fall into the LA2 bracket and require a bunch more work. Wanted some advice on what work some people have had to do to get there rigs engineered

Are you still awaiting a response?
Bit reluctant to respond if you’re not hanging around

Basically it needs to comply with ADRs and have emissions etc at least as good as the host vehicle.
Don’t hack at the firewall and be careful- or get advice on - welding anything to the chassis in terms of engine mounts.

The issue I'm having is that it is going to need an LA2 certifications as the 190kw of the barra exceeds the above 20% of the 129kw 4.2L petrol stock engine of the 1997 patrols so I need brake test which is $5k and a few other tests done which is going to blow my cost out of the water for what I was expecting for the certification

Maybe think laterally.
Turbo the TB and you will have more power than the Barra. 230kw from memory at 16-18psi.
No conversion needed.

Also thinking- you’ve done 90% of the conversion? Where are you currently at? Changed diff ratios and gearbox?

I had a brake test done for engineering years ago. It was $400. They have a stopping bed the roll the car onto at a certain speed and hit the brakes. They do a bunch of tests, front brakes disconnected, rear brakes disconnected, brake booster disconnected, handbrake.
