hey guys,

wondering if anyone had anything to say about this product

http://www.superiorengineering.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=31_32_33_178&products_id=844

ie, is it a viable option as opposed to drop boxes/castor bushes.

extra info:
currently acquiring parts for a total of 6" lift on a gq shorty
already have 4" springs + 2" coil spacers and 6" dobi shocks

looking at buying panhard rods, rear upper control arms, swaybar extensions, brake lines and tailshaft spacers all to suit the lift height.

any further help would be appreciated

cheers :D:D

Caster plates and bushes are a very poor way to correct caster, your much better off spending the extra coin and buying Superior Engineering drop boxes instead.

With such a huge lift, and caster plates, you radius arms will still be on a mean downward angle, not only does this cause poor handling but also causes binding of the radius arm bushes which will restrict articulation and lead to premature wear. Drop boxes bring the rear of the radius arm down, restoring factory geometry, and improving, handling and articulation. One step up from this again would be Superior hybrid radius arms.

That is going to be a big lift especially for a shorty, Sim79 or others with SWB are best to help with suspension, but caster plates were a very early fix for Patrol suspension geometry better methods have been adopted. As suggested drop boxes, dropped arms would be the better option and don't use the coil spacers.

Curious my self and hope someone can answer my question but I was told SWB actually lift about an 1" higher then LWB. For example 2" lift = 3"on SWB, 4" lift = 5" on SWB etc.

Any driveline issues with the 6 inch lift?
How does it go in steep off camber terrain? ;-)

I regret doing my 4 inch lift, such a huge waste of time and money, over kill for 35s.
Wish I had just done a 2 inch, heaps cheaper , simpler and they drive like they are rails so much lower.
Less heat from cops.

2 inch + triple bypass shocks = ultimate set up :)
