Depends on the depth of your pockets and the extent of your patience.

At least the manual gearbox has a separate bolt-on bellhousing, so making an adapter might not be easy, but not impossible.

 

It will never make lots of power. Just want a newish V8 (that is Fuel efficient) to replace my dying TB. So that might just be the way to go do you know where to find blueprints for the adapter?

 

I believe some markets (Middle East maybe?!?) had a 6 speed manual transmission available in the Y62. Not sure if they are still available, nor what model transmission it was.

 

Very good point but there are nearly impossible to get into AUS. Not to forget how not cheap it would be. But thanks for the suggestion.

 

If you don’t have an engine already, I’d start with having a chat with Hartley Engineering. There is a port injection version of the VK56 that was used in Y62 in the GCC countries and in the Titan in the US. I believe they mainly use this version as opposed to the direct injection version that all AUS delivered Y62s have. It’s a much easier engine to control and is apparently relatively cheap out of the US. Doesn’t have quite the same power output, but probably not an issue for a GU/GQ conversion.
