grease nipples on uni joints,driveshaft slide yokes,tie rods

 

castrol lmp grease for nipples and castrol htb for wheel bearings. have fun.

 

pump the grease into the tie rod until u see the boot swell. 6 pumps on the shaft slide yoke

 

pump the grease into the unis until u see the old grease coming out. every 5000 km. more if playing hard

 

Your tie rod and drag link will more than likely have small bolts on the bottom, these have to come out and screw in a nipple to grease, then replace bolt or put nipples in each ball joint.

 

whilst under ur truck have a good look underneath and get know what it looks like

 

Nothing better than that buzz u get working on ur truck knowing u did it yourself.

 

Dont forget to check the diffs,gearbox and transfer case oil levels, all bushes and brake pads while u under there

 

Also check 4 battle carnage after each trip. Sounds like ur on the right track asking the right questions.

Far off from brissy mate haha mid north coast NSW.

I work at supercheap and we have castrol LMX, EPL2 and LMM but havnt heard of LMP. Will have to look it up.

Is there any other greases that I can use on the nipples?

Yep got some Castrol HTB as I am going to be replacing my front wheel bearings soon as they are in need of replacement.

Some bushes are shagged I know that but cannot afford to replace with genuine rubber bushes at the moment so they will have to live for the time being. (dont appear to be causing problems yet).

Pads are fine but I believe I have a warped rotor somewhere as the pedal bounced a bit on light braking + can hear a woop woop woop sort of noise when light braking. Still brakes fine however.

Will have to observe the gbox / diff oils. Previous owner said he did them at his last service.

LMM is fine for tie rod ends and unis.

 

your onto it ben. never be afraid 2 ask i told my apprentices. i've been crawling over my jeep today doing the same

 

if i know my customers r going 2 play in mud or water i use boat trailer wheel bearing grease. holds up better.
