Pretty sure none of it will fit. I brought a exedy heavy duty clutch for my ute that said suits td42 ONLY. Few things that could be different like input shaft spline, bolt pattern.

 

Off topic but I got told recently that 4.2 clutch is interchangeable between TB/TD?

 

Did you get any info on this mate ?

bellhousings are the same except the zd30 one is missibg one hole. so im gonna use the td42 bellhousing

That is for the starter I believe, I'm just hoping the input shaft on the boxes is the same

 

The ZD30 and TD42 have different flywheels the bolt pattern is different, TB45 and TD42 were different eventhough the clutches are the same so ZD and TD would be 110% different.

Yeah that's what I thought. But as long as the input shafts are the same I should be able to slide the zd30 box onto the 42 providing I drill the hole out for the starter

 

Hmm will have to see what I find when the zd30 comes out

 

Going by the Clutch industries website.

The specs from the 07 ZD30 clutch are 275mm x 24T x 25.5
06 TD42 clutch are 275mm x 24T x 25.5
90 TD42 clutch are 275mm x 24T x 25.5

So if this is correct I should be able to bolt the ZD30 gearbox up to the 4.2, and if the only difference in the bell housings is the starter motor mount which is minimal. happy days.

 

yer i am using the zd30 gearbox. with td42 bellhousing. i want to use td42 flywheel and zd30 clutch and pressure plate. but i dont know if it will work

What's the reason for using the zd clutch and plate.

 

Answer to this in case anyone is interested, yes the zd30 clutch plate and pressure plate fit the td42 perfectly.

Yes its fit!
I do this conversion for a higher clutch pressure.
ZD30 have 800kg power.
TD42 starts at 550kg.

 

That's good to hear because I have a brand new Safari setup for zd30 sitting in my shed and about to start TD42 conversion.

 

nice to read: last year i converted a rd28 to td42T in my 98 Y61 GR.....had some issues but worked all out except speedo and tachometer., and this weekend i have to pull out an zd30 and replace it with a td42 in my other 01 Y61 GR , all manual, so i am also wondering about the clutch/ flywheel option.
a friend of mine switched a zr30 auto for a td42 and bolted it on to the zd30 auto box, he had to widen the holes for the startermotor and move the engine mounts to the front and shift the matic box a few cm's back....

 

Is your TD42 from a GQ or a GU, both are different flywheel.

 

Mine is from a gq, i used the td42 flywheel and the zd30 clutch plate and pressure plate. Had the exact same bolt pattern

Are zd30 start motor and the td42 start motor interchangeable as well?

i wish they were interchangeable....but No the are not.. td42 has 3 holes and wider pattern and zd30 has 2 holes, closer to eachother

 

the zd30 needs 3 holes drilled for the starter not 1 and the old zd lugs cut off and smoothed a bit

the zd and n/a td42 share the same crank pcd

I believe the pressure plate ect are the same as td42

I cant see y you would want to use the zd30 flywheel apart from its there I cant see why it wouldent work it should work the same but being a dual mass I wouldent use it
