Assuming that the second vehicle ingested some water and hydro locked, the Patrol driver should be thanking all the gods that he didn't do the same thing.

You must admit though it did look pretty cool, would I attempt it in my own ? No Way
The second vehicle did not look as tall either so guessing the air box was a lot lower.
I remember reading in the Car Advice review for the Y62 that the Y62 had a max wading depth of 700mm which you are right it clearly exceeded.
In the same breath I also understand it was not wading
Lets hope as the Y62 Patrol's get more and more popular things like snorkels will be easier to obtain.

wasn't that deep and only for a short while, i've had mine in similar depths with no issues, same with my old gq actually, air intake is in the guard and so long as you maintain momentum at a steady speed it creates an air lock in there, obviously not going to last forever and a tarp etc across the front helps, just make sure you switch it off quick if you stop moving :)
yes i'll still be getting a snorkel as soon as i'm able.

Pulled along side a Y61 this morning that had a factory snorkel like this picture, wonder if it can be modified to suit the Y62 as the guard shape looked very similar to lap over the vent without showing any pinch weld
I have asked ARB who have said that they have tried with their item and it doesn't work. But, I don't know how hard they tried.

That Does look clean and tidy and I could even go as far as saying it looks 'Factory'

Do you see it around a fair bit, if so you recon he would possibly share the secret of who made it as am sure there is a lot of people watching this spot in Aust knowing how hard it is for obtaining custom goodies down under

jump on aussie y62 on facebook mate, the owner is on there pretty much every day and happy to give details, his car was the test rig for i think TJM/airtec (from memory) and he hasn't been given a price just yet.

Not sure which one I dislike the most!!
Plastic fantastic or shiny stainless(yuck) which does not look in proportion size wise to the body! If that was powder coated black it might blend in a little better! Hell maybe they can do them colour coded?!

Thanks Trav
Did a Google on aussie Y62 facebook but could only find one called Nissan 4x4 facebook. I am not on Facebook so can only look into them if it allows me but didn't look like it had, the posts seem to be from a Nissan dealer https://www.facebook.com/nissan4x4aus
Still no worries, did a Google on TJM and there is one around the corner from me in O'Connor and they have a pic on their website so when I get a chance may call in and have a chat so down the track when I get into some serious 4wdriving I don't end up like that Lada Niva
Judging from their extensive catalogue I am assuming they are Australia wide meaning this was most probably made over east.

The stainless one looks cool for a custom jobby but if it were me I would prefer a factory look like the black plastic

I visited a TJM dealer in canberra about 2 weeks ago regarding a bull bar.

His bull bar pics on a y62 included a snorkel. The pics were shot on a beach location.

The salesman stated that it was fitted to their main test drivers vehicle and while not available now shouldn't be too far off.

It looked ok on a vehicle that was silver grey.
