Well things just keep getting better with the Y62:
One driver, next to no cargo and a long, long drive to NSW. Sitting between 100>110Kph most of the way.

Trip distance 970KM total fuel used 113L. That works out to 11.6L/100Km. Could only dream of those sort of figures with the GU CRD. Go the 62!!!

That's bloody impressive. Just drove from melbourne to coonawarra, mildly loaded up and got 11.04. I've noticed the arb bar has kicked it in the guys a little, that thing must be super heavy. Confirmed by the front end dropping substantially.

Any updates for fuel consumption figures?

FROM PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY OWN AND DRIVE A Y62 PATROL

Now prices are coming down I am actually considering one
Reading about figures from as low as 10LPH to 30LPH. So a bit confused because that's a huge range difference.
And I don't care about LC200 because I want a new car that's not $100000 plus.

Thanks everyone

I own one and fuel ranges from 11-12L/100km without a load cruising on 110kmh, with roof rack on and weight in rear it's upto about 13-14L. Towing a heavy camper trailer and loaded up in the rear sitting on 110 get about 15-16L. Anything over 120kmh usage goes up. Have had it down to 10L sitting on 100kmh no load on the freeway

Impressive mileage for sure but you don't buy V8's for economy if you happen to get some...W00T but at the end of the day you buy it for power and torque.

YMMV

PS these figures are about par with what I get in my Diesel V8 toyo and you guys would have a shedload more power too.

That's right traitor, the power is awesome and you can't beat the sound either. Went for a play on the sand the other week and was pretty much unstoppable. Tried to get it bogged so I could try my max trax haha but it wouldn't bog down

The worst figures I have seen over the last 17,000km on a average tank are 17.7L/100Km. But that was all city driving just after I had the ECU re-flash. So all the tank was consumed with a heavy right foot. I have been very sad and kept a log of the number of Lt used in each tank and the distance traveled. Keeping in mind that at least 60% of my driving is in and out of the city, the Y62 has averaged 13.6L/100km.
Comparing with my log book on from the old 2010 GU CRD, I am better off by 2.2L/100km...........!!!!!!!!! Cannot fault the Y62.....YET.

Agree, but In this day and age of technology and emission controls we should be able to drive powerful AND efficient V8's. and like you say if we can have V8 power and torque with good efficiency too then it's win - win.

I've had petrol 4x4's before and it gets annoying filling up all the time when your getting 20LPH from every day to day driving.

I already have a fuel efficient car at home (6LPH) and ill drive that if I want economy. But we all know a 3 tonne V8 4WD will never meet those figures (yet)

Thanks to those who are posting the fuel figures, so far they look on par if not better than what I get out of the CRD.

I'm changing my mind daily to keep the GU with all the mods or upgrade to the Y62.

We just sold our petrol prado as it was running at 20lts/100klms and it was just annoying filling it up all the time. The missus was spending more money fueling it up then what I spent on my fully packed up work ute driving all over Brisbane. I got her a crd patrol to replace the prado and the worst it ever runs would be 15lts/100 klms, and most times it runs much better than that. We are seeing the fuel savings already and loving it :)

It would now be interesting to find out what the economy, and capability, off-road is like.

ARB are fitting a 2' lift in the Y62 in the next few weeks and I am sure that will affect the fuel usage. Will let you know how it goes and with pulling the 1tn camper trailer.
Getting the brake controller done at the same time (remote Redarc). Does $450 seam a bit rich for supply and installation?

Trouble is Ray in finding someone to fit it. FTG Nissan wanted $700 but they could not tell me which controller it was. Any ideas who could fit the P3?
The fitting is really easy. If you're not sure, you can always take it to an autoelec who will be able to do it for you at a much lower cost. Realistically, you could do all the wire laying etc and just ask an autoelec to finish the wiring, but I'm pretty sure once you've done that, you'll do the rest as well. The Prodigy is the best unit that you can buy, so don't pay more for less.

I had a Tekonsha Prodigy fitted by an Autolec on my Patrol, 4 1/2 years ago, and hated the thing, because I never knew if it would work or not, and I replaced all the wiring to the brakes on the Camper, and it made absolutely no difference. Even the Autolec had another 2 looks at it, but if I jacked up one wheel on the camper, I could still rotate it, even with the panic arm thrown.
I completely replaced the Electric Brakes, and it made no difference.

I switched to a Redarc, with the remote head, and it works brilliantly.
Sure you have to manually adjust it for load weight, and condition, but that takes about 5 seconds.

At least I know they work instantly, every time.
Cheers
