Hi,
A toyota dealer provided a quote of $2400 to repair the coolant system on a "2010 Nissan Patrol wagon TI"" ZD30.

Below is the recommendations that was provided after the last service:

And below is the actual quote to do the repairs.

Is it just me, or does this price seem excessive? For example, I think I found a bottom hose for ~50$ online, whereas they want $200?
Apparently the motor fan assy cant be sourced locally so needs to be shipped in from Japan.

Below is photos they provided.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Why are you at a toyota dealer, one of our local suppliers can get anything for a Patrol. Where are you located?
Why not just go to a well known radiator specialist?
Lots of rust there mate, must be a story there.

I guess the price is so high as they are likely quoting all oem nissan parts (which is fair enough in some cases).

But id be getting a high quality spal fan. Which will perform better and be about 1/4 the cost.

And hoses/cap from the local parts shop.

I would expect change from $600 including paying a radiator place for a proper flush and inspection.

Looks like some strange mods have been made to that radiator as well.

Like you said, hoses should be about $50. Not sure what this $900 fan assembly is? But it seems excessive. You can replace the whole cooling system for $600-700 if you do it yourself. It's a couple of hours work. If the aircon fan needs replacing, once you take the front grille off it's easy to get to (only works when aircon is on, you should be able to hear it running). It shouldn't cost the earth. Sometimes genuine parts are reasonable, but look around and you'll find a lot of them are ridiculously expensive for what they are (like $200 for a rubber hose) and it only makes sense to buy the cheaper non-genuine alternative.

Holy crap, that guy wants you to pay off his mortgage -- this year. I have just done a quick search and found the fan at Parts Factory Aus for $243.30,

the hoses will be available from AutoOne,Supercheap or similar Mackay brand [aussie] for half what the quote is.I know some people are doing it

tough, but I think this is a bit rich. What town are you near ? I gather you can't do the work yourself ?

If you want genuine parts you could try Partsouq.com or Amayama.com

You can also try Patrolapart.com.au

The aircon/aux fan is the same across all GU models Series 1 - 5. You could probably get one secondhand pretty cheap. Did they do a pressure test on your aircon gas and a/c compressor?

@Oosti_1 Might I encourage you to at least give Garry a go for pricing on the serious genuine parts, he has looked after us for many years, usually competitive with other suppliers and (the main thing) he has always supported the events I organise (sadly Covid put a big dent in that but next year we are back on), supplying prizes for raffles etc. No other Nissan parts supplier does even though I have approached them at times.

The saying I have is 'support the people who support us'.
