Havnt heard that one. But I struggle to understand todays youth and find myself translating what they say with urban dictionary. Words and phrases like flog and half eaten pastie

The question is: 'Who was Gunga?' And why are these unsavoury references to him?

I know about Gunga Din and I guess Gunga is a common Indian name. There may well have been a spectacularly outstanding individual of this name whose achievements have now been lost in the mists of time. I do know a few Indians and the next time I meet an old Indian dude I'll enquire.

 

What about a farkalberry? That little bit of poo that gets stored on your anal hair.

 

What about a widget. Little piece of poo that gets stuck in the eye of you member after taking the chocolate express way. Lol

 

I always thought it was derived (like Ray suggested) from a poem or story by Rudyard Kipling
"Gunga Din". But maybe as you suggest easty, there is more to it than that and the Gunga name.

 

I'm waiting to see what the Urban Dictionary mob have to say. I'll email some of my old cronies as well and maybe Roly Sussex. I've discussed things like hyphens with him before and he's old enough maybe to have come across the term.

 

I love listening to Roly on the ABC of an afternoon.
