ur question makes absolutely no cents, have u been out the back a bit too long!!

I want that noies to lol sounds sweet. in the comments just says has a gt28 turbo straight through 3in might be the aftermarket turbo and wastegate ?

Turbo winding down after spinning flat out, takes a lot longer in a diesel as there is no throttle body to shut and blow off valve to release the pressure. In a diesel, when you back off their is still pressure in the intake piping that needs to make its way through. No mufflers helps you hear it, more boost makes it more noticeable?

That's my guess.

I dont know how they have done it with a Turbo Diesel, usually you need a throttle body to make the wastegate "flutter". In a turbo petrol engine it happens all the time, thats just wastegate flutter. Usually occurs when your running high boost with no BOV.

I have a TD42T with a 3" exhaust with no mufflers and it does not sound like that.

I know a few years ago HKS were making a BOV for Turbo Diesels with an electric soliniod to operate it. I wonder if thats the sound we are hearing?

i also have a 4.2 running 15psi and i can hear it very faintly but nothing like this, i do believe its a diesel but its got me stumped, ive herd one gq on the gold coast that sounded exactly the same and was a diesel so i just cant understand, any other takers?

thanks for the replies

I have a ZD30 which sounds just as good if not better.

I have no mufflers, jus the CAT, which I may take of one day.

There are others here with ZD30`s with Beadusert 2,75 Exhausts with out mufflers sounding the same. I think they may even be a video or two

I think that's a Schwitzer S2A (Denco kit, Borg warner) on a TD42 with a straight through exhaust. (yes I'm a TD42 geek)
big heavy slug of a turbo. ok for moderate performance but not the best when you really lean on it. its efficency is very limited.
It's united fuel injections dyno. the sound you are heating is the compressor stalling as it's on the over-run slowing down trying to push air into an engine that isnt using it
This is one of United's early version TD05s, pretty quiet except for the fluttering when you back off. running just under 30 psi. New ones don't flutter, it's not good for the turbo.

no it's not, it's just the noises the denco turbo kits make, I know because I had one on that car in the second video before I took it off and sold it.
and the video I posted it's the compressor surging as I back off, because the turbo rotating mass is very low it doesnt take much to stop it once you stop putting heat into the turbine.

my standard ht18 made this noise and it was very very easy to hear. sounded sweet it was more noticed when motor was under load such as towing having aircon on ect i was running 18 psi we putt it down to waisted boost pressure running out the waste gate ..

It's the wastegate opening letting out excess pressure.

nah its not wastegate related. just boost going back through turbo when gets off the gas.
the navara does it a little bit now and then but has done it far worse when the air cleaner was blocked up.

Its all in the exhaust housing.

Garrett GT2860RS with the 0.64 housing makes that noise (as per the video).

The 0.86 housing found on Turboglide kits wont make the noise.

All the Denco kits make that noise as the Schwitzer Turbos they run have teeny weeney exhaust housings (0.43 or 0.53 something like that).

It has nothing to do with the inlet side or the wastegate.

The wastegate only opens when you hit your "full boost" / max psi. E.g. if youre truck is set to 8psi FOR EXAMPLE the gate will open to divert exhaust gases around the turbine wheel so that the compressors speed is controlled (it wont speed up anymore so it wont exceed 8psi.).

If your car does this, get someone to rev it, youll notice the noise comes from exhaust rather then your intake.
