Can someone tell me why GU's, with their issues (grenading, crap factory intercoolers, 5th gear issues, dual mass flywheels, rear door cracking, shocky towers cracking, wheel wobbles, bad earth, heater cores, etc., etc.) get into your blood ?
and don't forget the greatest idea ever----dummy taillights !!! I'm leaning more towards GEEYOUTOO's idea about being a masochist--- I know when (and if ) I get rid of this one,I'll be getting another oneIt's their off-road ability.
When a mate jumps into the Patrol to travel up his farm trail to go cut firewood and says - "man. this thing rides well. It's better than John's Hilux, better than Pat's Pathy, better than my Troopy (not hard that one), and better than my missus' Disco. I don't have to hang on with both hands to stop myself from flinging about."
And you forgot belt tensioners, factory brakes, exhaust manifolds warp, driver's seat belt doesn't retract, exhaust heat shield eats hands,
I think this hits it right on the head.Owning a Patrol, or maybe and 4wd, is a hobby. You drive it, break it, replace parts, fix it and enjoy it. I don't think I could own a a 4wd if I didn't enjoy the fixing and tinkering like I do. It would cost a small fortune!
But back on topic, I don't think there are many 4wd's that don't have their list of faults, just companies wanting better profit.
