Thanks for allowing me to join this forum filled with lots of Patrol related knowledge.

I am a fairly new Patrol owner, but have been a Nissan driver for many years. Had a double cab 3.0 Tdi followed by a 2.5 dci auto Pathfinder. The Pathfinder have over 300k kms on and my son is driving it.

Recently bought a 2009 Y61 TD42 normal aspirated diesel with only 150k kms on... These vehicles are very scarce in South Africa, especially the TD42. Mine come from Lesotho where it was used by the UN/GIZ. I am driving it at the moment in SA still with Lesotho plates and hope to have the registration finalised as soon as possible....

I have many plans for the vehicle hence frequent this forum and the local South Africa Patrol forum frequently as part of my research...

Welcome mate, we have a few of your fellow SA's among our members. As GR says, lots of info here and plenty of good advice on offer.

Welcome mate.

Sounds like there's an epic TD42 build that will soon get to go on some epic trips.

We will, of course, expect awesome build and trip reports !!! ;)

Nice work on getting a 2009 4.2 Y61, they stopped importing them here in 2005. Post some detailed pics along the way [emoji106]

Welcome Oetie.
These Aussie guys have done things to Patrols we South Africans have not even thought of yet. And they are a very helpful bunch of guys. Just wish we could get some of their awesome trails here, they know how to wheel.

At least with the Australia Post things don't get swiped, but they are bloody slow when posting letters ect. The Patrol thing over here is huge they almost sold 105000 GU Patrols over a 20 year period, so tonnes of aftermarket goodies.

...... so tonnes of aftermarket goodies.
And you just put that in there to make us all sorts of jealous:rolleyes:. In the US and Australia I could have got a kit over the counter to do my SFA on my Hardbody. Instead, I had to build everything from scratch, and figure stuff out by trial and error on my own. OK, my build is kinda unique, but still.
