Pushy rego is the dumbest idea I've ever heard. Can you imagine telling your child; "sorry, your bikes out of rego, you can't ride to the park"? I worry about the future of this country...

what cyclist your Honor? i do not recall seeing a brake light nor an indicator .large groups of ****** wannabe tour de france lycra clad GROWN FARKIN MEN ffs cycling in gay hunting packs can get the fark out of my way or take on the front bar.stay in yr bike lane or use a bike track.

given a choice between a small piece of meat on a moving 20kg bike or a large 4wd/truck i know which one i will avoid.the rude poofs ride 3 and 4 abreast and now demand special treatment. um no.

i'm sick to death of these bloody pelotons, they're like a herd of epileptic drunken wildebeast - all over the shop and regularly break intersections on the red.

they have the cheek to bitch about cars when they're clearly breaking road rules. half of them don't have lights, they sprawl across lanes when they could easily run 2 abreast, and then they run the lights. they're a nightmare at roundabouts

i generally find that the single riders are the opposite, careful and traffic aware.

Single riders 9/10 are switched on and safe / follow road rules. Its when they get in packs they start trying to show off and become dangerous

 

saw one this morning at a set of traffic lights that had a red cycle light!!!!! and still went straight through as i had a turning light, should have just run the ignorant c#nt over, too bad i had a green light and yours was red!!!!!!

 

I drive a large 4WD in the city area. I ride a bike on the road and footpath to work(no lycra). This makes me the ultimate asshole.

Maybe because if they hit you while you are in traffic in your vehicle, you're somewhat less likely to die, or spend the rest of your life in a wheelchair, or on a prosthetic limb, or with brain damage.

I could be wrong, of course, and a poor unfortunate driver may indeed end up permanently incapacitated following a coming-together with a cyclist.

I think riders under the age of 16 shouldn't need rego, over 16 should have a plate that matches their car rego.

I have a dash cam, if they break the law like going within 1 metre of my car at lights, running red lights etc i should be able to forward that to the police and they get fined just like we would.

 

Not sure about cyclists paying rego, but agree they need some sort of I.D tag so the reckless ones can be held responsible.

Just last week I saw a cyclist power through the middle of two lanes of stationary cars at the lights, he just got to the front as the lights went green, then of course he was in the middle of the road right in the way.

There was plenty of room on both sides of the cars, so why he would go up the middle is beyond me

Instead of rego for pushbikes how about a fat tax to offset the extra burden those who don't exercise put on our health system..I'd say a lack of exercise is a much bigger issue for our country.

The reality is that it's the occasional bike user (not cyclist) that runs the red lights and breaks the law. The significant majority of cyclists are equally as annoyed as you are by the minority who do the wrong thing.

As a cyclist, 4WDer and modified performance car driver i'm pretty sure I piss all other road users off...

Pretty much agree with all the criticism of cyclist behaviors - running lights, splitting lanes at lights and wearing Lycra.

As for riding two up, it has a time and place and is the only way to ensure a vehicle has to wait until it is safe to overtake you rather than screaming past at full pace with on coming traffic, nearing hitting you and pushing off the road into the gutter/drain/scrub.

However rego for bikes? seriously? grow up. we'll need pedestrians walking around with plates on if you want to go down that path.

While I see your point to this . I must also add that you can always get out of the way your self . I've been caught so many time's behind cyclist riding 2up on mountain roads that I'm sure do it just for a laugh to see 10-20 cars stuck behind them at crawling speed . Why cant they pull of the road or Stop and let the traffic past . it's these situations that make people take aggressive passes to get past them .

BUT , I feel the same way about people towing a massive caravan with under powered cars on twisty roads that cant keep pace . They should be polite and let the faster moving traffic passed when there is a safe place for them to pull to one side of the road .

Why are motorists so angry and impatient these days. Everyone is racing from 1 set of lights to the next, nor do they give a **** about cutting you off.

 

it's not so much as is a hurry , but when you have a ****tard in front of you that couldn't drive a greasy stick up a dogs arse or is doing 30km an hour under the posted speed limit for no reason I think it's fair to get a little annoyed .
Then back on topic to MAMIL's doing 60kms under the normal traffic speed I think the onus should fall on them to get out of the way . not the other 90% of motorist to slow to there pathetic speed .

 

I disagree, I regularly drive a fair distance to work on busy roads in 80km zones two lanes either way. If your not doing at least 95 to 100 kmh there's no way you will get into the right hand lane to pass a slow truck etc. Slow on these roads is the speed limit.
