Has anyone done the xr6 seat conversion in a gu ? I’d just like to know what’s involved and how hard it is to do. I’ve tried searching for a thread on it but didn’t come up with anything. Any info is much appreciated

Doing it now . Done drivers seat last night and passenger tonight . Must admit it is a bit of mucking around but I think I'll be a bit better at it tonight . Comfort can't say yet as I haven't driven any where. I went for xr6 seats full leather with hurran seat adapters. Also the electrics are not used with the conversion. I thought they were . Finding the seats was easy they are every where the ones I got had only travelled 70 thousand klms so are in great Nic . Cost me 450 for the pair . Plus the adapter kit you'll need to purchase also . Good luck

Mate this has been done on here before, have a look at this thread, from memory I think there may have been others.

I’ve always been one to think that leather seats would be no good to sit on after being in the sun a while. I wouldn’t know cause I’ve never had them haha. I also thought you could modify the old rails ?

Read the existing threads. From what I've read you can modify the existing mounts and put the Ford rails on top but it's a lot of stuffing about and not legal. The Huracan adaptors simplify the job and will be passed by an inspecting engineer once presented with the paperwork that comes with the adaptors. You still need to get it blue plated for it to be fully legal.

Think I’ll just stick to the Nissan seats then and that can go in the too hard bucket for a while

What has changed. Have they changed the mounts for some reason that the electrics can't work because mine work fine. If you don't hook the power up you can't adjust it. Even if you just hook it up temporarily till you get the desired seating position.

Too hard or too dear. The adaptors are a piece of cake. I've had mine in and out a couple of times now and it only takes minutes. First time is a bit slower when you are working it out and following the instructions.

Iam not sure what has changed but I installed the drivers seat without electrics then I read that someone had the electrics installed . So I went home and looked at the xr base and thought no way that will go on . So I called hurrcan and that said no it does not go in the patrol . Install imo was not easy about 1-5 hr per side . Haven't had a drive yet but just sitting there they feel comfortable. Time will tell .

Would be interesting to see some pick because my bases bolted straight up. So you had to cut off or unbolt the motors and tilting mechanisms or something. My ford seats bolt to the adaptors in their entirety. The only mod as such is to flatten a little locating lug on the bottom of the rails

Haha, I meant about what actually bolts to the adaptors. That looks like the normal bases for the Ford seats. So you have removed that and bolted the seats differently somehow????

What you see in the pictures some how needs to be added to the hurracan seat adapters that they supply ? Which I can't see anyway how that can happen . It's not simply an unbolt part it's fixed in numerous spots. Unless Iam missing something. But they did tell me when I called that it's not something there adapters work with .

So do the Ford slider rails unbolt from that base with the electric motors.

So I'm totally confused now. I have them in my 2006 Cab Chassis. I got a set out of a ute so I can tilt them forward, the driver's seat has electrics and it all works. My biggest drama was that the seat is about 25mm higher and reduces the amount of room between steering wheel and seat.
Really comfortable, had to revert back to the original after a run in the the DOT here in Perth but they will be going back in once thats all sorted.

Yeah I’m confused too. I don’t understand how they work without that base. Looked on the site but still doesn’t make sense. Has to be using the ford or Nissan rails to have for/aft movement.

Iam confused also . But I was talking to Jason from hurracan and was informed that the ford electrics that make the chair move up and down will not fit on there rails that they supply and must use to fit in my gu ute . I believe they also supply to incharge automotive and they also have no electrics as I asked the guy from there last week .

If people have the electrics working you've done well I was hoping I could use them but it's not to bad without them

I have a set of FG seats installed complete with all the electrics using the huracan adapter mounts. The only Nissan part left is the seat belt clip. The backwards and forwards control is part of the Falcon seats. But as someone mentioned above there is a bit less room to get your legs between the steering wheel and the seat.
